Cynthia Butler McIntyre, B.A. Dillard University, M.Ed., University of New Orleans
Cynthia M. A. Butler-McIntyre built a legacy of committed service and dedication to the children and employees of the Jefferson Parish School System in Harvey, LA for 30+ years. She retired as the Director of Human Resources and for nearly 20 years provided supervision for the system’s 3500+ classified employees. She has impacted the lives of countless young people and young adults as a kindergarten teacher, assistant principal, summer school principal and personnel administrator in her school district. Her professional experience also includes her service as the executive director of Tech-Prep Summer Program at Delgado Community College in New Orleans, La. She has also worked as the assistant coordinator of field experiences and supervisor for early childhood student teachers at the University of New Orleans.
Her distinguished record of service and outstanding list of accomplishments include recognitions by local, state, regional and national organizations. From a Presidential appointment to a school in Cherete’, Haiti that bears her name, she has been a servant leader to one of the largest premier women’s organizations in the world, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She served as the 24th National President during the Centennial Celebration of the Sorority, bringing worldwide attention to its work globally.

Marylou Luther, Fashion Industry Legend
Residing in New York, making her mark in Los Angeles, and hailing from a small town in Nebraska, Marylou Luther is a fashion industry legend. She had little exposure to fashion when she began her career at The Lincoln Journal and The Des Moines Register. Fast forward forty years and she became the Creative Director of Fashion Group International, Editor of the International Fashion Syndicate, CFDA Award winner, syndicated Clotheslines columnist and more. “Marylou’s bi-annual, ready-to-wear trend report for FGI — narrated in her signature authoritative, sophisticated voice, sets the seasonal tone with her much anticipated summaries. It’s no wonder her trend reports are followed by industry professionals in 28+ regions all over the world.”

HYBRID LECTURE: Telling Our Stories
Barbara McKillip-Erixson, Omaha Nation, Adjunct Instructor, Nebraska Indian Community College, B.S., M.A. University of Nebraska-Lincoln
Barbara McKillip-Erixson began researching her Omaha Nation and family history after retiring as a K-12 mathematics teacher. A lifelong-learner, she began taking Native American Studies classes at Nebraska Indian Community College to pursue her goal of learning more about her family and their tribal history. Because she had been adopted as an infant and did not live among the Omaha Nation, her motivation to learn about her family history was even greater. As part of a team from Nebraska Indian Community College that worked for several years with curators in Berlin, Germany, on the development of an exhibition entitled Against the Current: The Omaha, Francis LaFlesche and his Collection, Barbara served as an Educational Consultant. McKillip-Erixson will share her experiences learning about the Omaha Nation and telling her story in Berlin. Barbara currently lives in Union, Nebraska with her St. Bernard.

VIRTUAL LECTURE: QUERER ES PODER
Olga Custodio, LtCol USAFR (Ret) / Captain, American Airlines (Ret)
The first Latina to complete U.S. Air Force Undergraduate Pilot Training and graduate in the top 5% of her class (of 48) with a fighter qualification to fly the T-38 as an instructor pilot, Olga E. Custodio points to three principles that have helped her become successful in a profession dominated by men: overcoming self-doubt, staying open to possibilities, and seeing herself as an equal.
The path to her dream, however, has not been a walk in the park. While studying at the University of Puerto Rico, she tried to participate in the university’s Reserve Officer Training Corps program but was denied the opportunity, as women were not allowed at that time.
But Olga never gave up hope, and she went on to fulfill her dream of becoming a commissioned military officer — and then some. A female military aviation pioneer, she served for 24 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Olga became the first American Airlines Latina commercial airline pilot and later upgraded to Captain.
